St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church & School News Week of February 19th, 2023

Funeral  Morris Raymond was called home to heaven on February 11, age 74.  Funeral services were held February 17, 2023 here at St. Stephen’s.

Memorials  In memory of Orville and Josephine Dahl, a gift has been given to the 8^th Grade Trip to Washington D.C., by their son, Philip.  In memory of Marian Weiss, a gift has been given to the Radio fund from family.  In memory of Kathleen Foulkes, a gift has been given to the Restoration fund  to the Senior Choir by family and friends.  In memory of George Stegner, a gift has been given to the Restoration fund from his wife, Donna.

Gifts We acknowledge with thanks, a gift for the General fund and for the Restoration fund in celebration of Earl & Marjorie Voigt’s 57^th Wedding Anniversary.

School Play! Come join Saint Stephen’s for a production of “Robin Hood” in association with Prairie Fire Theatre. There will be performances in the school gym Friday, February 24, at 6:30 pm. and Saturday, February 25, at 1:00 p.m. There will be a $3.00 charge per adult. Grade school age and lower will be admitted free of charge. Please tell friends and family. All are welcome.

Pew cushions will be given a good cleaning soon. Do you have a handheld carpet cleaner that you would be willing to loan to get the job done? Please contact the office or drop it off at the office.

Bible Information Class begins a new session today, Sunday, February 19, at 11:15 AM. Anyone who has questions about the Bible, faith, would like a review of what we believe, or wishes to become a member of our congregation can come to this class. We will meet in the church basement. If you know of someone who would like to come to this class, but Sunday does not work for them, please speak with a pastor to come up with an alternate time.

Lent begins this week Ash Wednesday is February 22 with services at 3:30 and 6:30 p.m.  Our series for midweek Lenten services this year reflect on “The Suffering Servant,” a reflecting on pivotal moments and events in Jesus’ Passion.

This week, Pastor Heyer’s sermon theme will be “An Oppressed Servant… A Servant Cut Off”

A PARKING NOTE – No parking for the 3:30 service on West Street in front of Wilson School and St. Stephen’s parking lots.  This is the after school bus pick-up lane.

Lenten Suppers!  This year there will be a light supper in our church basement from 4:45-6:15pm provided by some of our church organizations.  This week our Teens group will be hosting a taco meal. We hope that this will make it easier for our busy families to come for these special worship services as well as give many of us another opportunity to enjoy Christian fellowship with one another.
